I agree, Ames...I'm considering not even doing custom pre-draft rankings this year because it always seems to backfire on me.

I think more than anything there's that underlying fear of losing to a female and then getting ragged on by his boys for a week.

FF has become just as much a crap shoot as March Madness. You can do all the research you want but it still comes down what happens on the field.

I'd probably enjoy watching football or playing FF if I understood more than the basic rules - like being able to discern a pattern being run. Or knowing all the vocabulary.

Nycole,

Very well written article.....but you are WRONG! BTW I have waited YEARS to say that. This decision could have easily been overturned. It wouldn't have been hard. Heck...official scorers have 24 hours to change their minds on hits and errors. Selig certainly could have done the same. I know bad calls happen all the time, but perfect games don't. As a matter of fact they have only happened 20 times during the HISTORY of baseball. Your point that we didn;t even know who this guy was until he pitched a perfect game (and he did) is another reason they should have changed it. Considering that only 20 have been pitched in over 100 years, and he's not a superstar, what are the odds he ever does it again? The NFL uses reply....the NBA uses reply...the NHL uses replay. It wouldn't have to take long...heck Nyc....we knew 15 seconds after the call that it was blown. The ump could have known in 30. All they need to do is expand the replay system they have. All homeruns are eligible to be reviewed. They should add fair/foul ball calls to this (remember the Twins getting ripped off when there were SIX umpires on the field?). After that you can give each manager ONE challenge for the game to use of whatever they want (excluding balls and strikes). It wouldn;t extend the game much. Maybe 2 minutes if the used replay. In a game where they pitchers and batters step out every other pitch it's really not a big deal. LET'S GET IT RIGHT! There's not a campany in the world that wouldn't use technology that they ALREADY HAVE to better their business. It's 2010. Welcome to the 1990s baseball. Anyway.....I have ranted long enough. Change this obvious error by a classy umpire and give the kid his perfect game. He earned it. Then implement replay to keep it from happeneing again.

Did I change your mind? I usually respect your opinions on sports....Come on Nyc....Change your mind!
